WIKA Service Station wins top seller award

A popular service station in the city centre of Windhoek, WIKA TOTAL Service Centre, was recently recognised as the top fuel seller in southern Africa beating 30 others. Its owner, Nic du Preez, received the Elite Award in Durban, South Africa, early this month.

The award is bestowed upon TOTAL dealers who records high volumes of fuel, lubricant and shop sales over a calendar year. WIKA Service Centre was among the top 30 service stations in southern Africa that achieved high volumes in sales during 2005. In receiving the award du Preez said, “I am proud of the achievement during a period where fuel supplies were under threat due to refinery changeovers to produce clean fuels. I am particularly appreciative of the efforts of my staff, the excellent co-operation received from the distribution team at TOTAL and most of all, for the continued support of all my loyal customers. We will, however, not rest on our laurels and will aim to improve our position during this year.”

It is the fifth time that WIKA TOTAL Service Centre has been honoured with a top seller award. John Dammert of TOTAL Namibia said, “[WIKA Service Centre] has undoubtedly consolidated its position as one of the leading fuel retailers in Windhoek,”
WIKA TOTAL service station celebrated its 10th anniversary in December 2005 at a time when Namibia was going through a nationwide fuel crisis due to the compulsory shut-down of refineries in South Africa, which led to erratic supplies. Another Namibian based service station to receive recognition was the TOTAL Poolman Motors in Okahandja. It received the Gold Award in the annual TOTAL Top Service Programme category, which recognises the hard work of individual service stations in nurturing staff loyalty and promoting high service standards.

“The TOTAL Top Service Programme involves the assessment of all service aspects at the site through mystery shoppers that promotes the rendering of continuous high levels of service at TOTAL service stations. In order to achieve the Gold Award, the dealer has to achieve an aggregate of 100% over a period of 12 months of assessment”, said Dammert. The owner of TOTAL Poolman Motors, Gerhard de Bruyn, won a trip to Mauritius. “The award came as big surprise to me since I was competing against some 700 service stations in southern Africa.

But this makes me immensely proud that a service station from a relatively small town such as Okahandja can also produce winners. I am grateful to my wife, a dedicated team and the support received from TOTAL and I hope that this is an inspiration to other service station owners from small centres to continue to strive for top class service levels,” said de Bruyn.
