German company in computer donation

The Polytechnic of Namibia, together with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Namibian Police, received second-hand computers from Gebracom, a German computer leasing company, valued at N$ 200,000. Gebracom, which is based in Stuttgart, also donated Bosch power tools to the Save the Rhino Trust. According to a statement from the Polytechnic of Namibia, on behalf of all the recipients, this is the third time that Gebracom has come to the aid of Namibian institutions.

In 2004, the Polytechnic of Namibia received 50 computers and other hardware value at N$100,000. Last year the Ministry of Environment and Tourism received a batch of computers and Bosch power tools. Air Namibia and another German company, Schenker that is based in Stuttgart, provided the logistics and transportation to move the donated computers and Bosch power tools to Namibia. The computers donated will be divided equally between the Polytechnic of Namibia, Ministry of Environment and Tourism, and the Namibian Police. Polytechnic of Namibia said it will use the computers it received in the new library, which was inaugurated in September of last year.

“The computers are to be turned into graphical terminals,” said Roux-che Locke, the public relations officer at the Polytechnic of Namibia.
