subMission blitz the Bunker

Local heavy rock band subMission will release its first mini CD on Friday, 17 November at the Blitzkrieg Bunker Bar at Gutenberg Platz in Windhoek. The event will mark the 1st birthday bash of the Bunker, Namibia’s only nightspot dedicated to heavy music in all its shapes and forms. Rock act, Penilane, will also perform on that night. subMission was formed in May 2005 by a number of musicians, who have been active in the local and SA scene for many years.

Heavy metal band, subMission, will unveil a new CD next week.

The current line-up, Willie Grobler (vocals), Stefan Steyn (guitars), Sven Heussen (guitars), Georg Stadtherr (bass) and Hartmut Wenk (drums) – has been completed at the beginning of 2006. The band plays modern rock music, blending melody with power and subtleness with in-your-face energy. “They’re unashamedly individualistic in what they do and combine technical proficiency with a raw intensity,” says a long-time observer of the Namibian music scene. subMission plans to ship the EP beyond the borders of the country, where inroads have already been made through previous musical endeavours of some band members. “There has been a strong resurgence in heavy metal music overseas and we want to show the world that Namibia also knows how to rock,” the band emphasises. The release of the demo will coincide with the opening of a website, www.submission-band.com, with band information, music downloads and a photo gallery.
