Christo de Vries, MD Bank Windhoek.

Bank Windhoek was recently honoured with the “Best Bank in Namibia” award for the fourth consecutive year by Emeafinance, a UK-based economics magazine that covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This award to Bank Windhoek falls in the category of “African Banking Achievement Awards.”
According to MD Christo de Vries of Bank Windhoek, the award was given in recognition of the bank’s solid performance in its year ended 30 June 2011 where it recorded a 12% growth in net profit over the previous year.
“This achievement can be attributed to responsible and prudent management principles, combined with a dedicated staff contingent that operates in a unique organisational culture established over many years,” he said.
De Vries further added: “ Bank Windhoek’s existence continues to be characterised by a strong commitment to fulfilling its role as a partner in the development, economic growth and prosperity of Namibia. These facts are being recognized by international publications, such as Emeafinance. We would not have received this award without the support of our clients and the trust they bestowed upon us.”
Christopher Moore, CEO and publisher of the Emeafinance magazine said : “Bank Windhoek continues its impressive hold on our Best Bank in Namibia award. The Bank plays an important role in the development of Namibia’s financial sector and markets. No doubt, the bank’s capacity and willingness to lend across all sectors of the commercial and retail economy allows it to grow both in terms of its loan book and market share. For all these reasons, and more, Bank Windhoek is a deserved winner of this award.”
