Bank Windhoek recently donated N$ 35 000-00 to the Enduro Working Group of the Windhoek Moto-Cross Club for the hosting of this year’s Namibian Enduro championship series . The bank through its marketing and corporate communication services continues to promote sport, demonstrating its corporate social responsibilities while setting an example to other businesses in the private sector.
While the sponsorship is to assist the Enduro working group of the Windhoek moto-cross club in their drive for the promotion of motor sport, Riaan van Rooyen, head of corporate communications and social investment at Bank Windhoek said, during the hand over ceremony, that his bank is honoured to be part of this exciting sport and the Namibian Enduro riders have held the Namibian flag high during international racing events. “The Bank Windhoek Enduro championship series will once again put Namibia on the map of the international Enduro scene”, said van Rooyen. The chairman of the Enduro Working Group, Heiko Hennes, was grateful and acknowledged the value of the financial institutions’ sponsorship and contribution to the promotion of motor sport. “Due to the global economic crisis, the international motor sport scene had to overcome a few challenges. This is a very expensive sport and without the support of companies like Bank Windhoek it would be impossible to stage such events of international recognition and to promote Enduro in Namibia”, he said. The Namibian Enduro Championship series comprising of seven races will take place in the regions of Namibia from March-October 2010.
