The minister of education and science from Finland Hon Henna Virkkunen, her delegation and the Finnish Ambassador to Namibia paid a courtesy visit at the Polytechnic of Namibia earlier this week as part of her 4 day visit to Namibia.
“This is my first visit to Namibia and i’am very happy that I accepted the invitation to come and see how the Namibian educational system work,” said Henna Virkkunen, the minister of education and science of Finland.
Virkkunen also said that she and her delegation will be having workshops through out the country  to discuss the possibilties of educational patnership between the two countries.
The director of education and science in Finland, Aita Lehikonen, said that the main factor is to give education and to apply research when universities give education leading to research.
“When universities set up science parks, its a longterm thing,” she said
The Ambassdor of Finland in Namibiam, His Excellency, Asko Lukkainen, said that the embassy is not an expert in education but they are there to facilitate the partnerships between the two governments.
The Rector of the Polytechnic of Namibia gave a presentation to show the Minister how the Polytechnic is operated and the partnerships with all the Finnish Unversities and Polytechnics after which the minister and Rector shared gifts.
