Internet Technologies Namibia (ITN), made history in the country by deploying the first Juniper Network Equipment on its MPLS Backbone.
Christiaan Rademan, a Juniper expert from XON Systems, delivered hands-on Juniper training to the ITN technical team and assisted with the migration.
With support from XON Systems, a Juniper Elite partner in Service Provider Infrastructure, ITN took the bold step of introducing the first Juniper Routers in the country. Some of ITN’s premier customers in Namibia are now using Juniper in their core network allowing their customers to access the Internet at lightning fast speeds.
Says Rademan: “The integration of Juniper Networks technology will enhance ITN’s ability to offer corporate customers integrated communication solutions, from secure Internet access to Multi-Media on their virtual private networks (VPN). I am confident that Juniper will advance the evolution of ITN’s international network with a routing portfolio that combines best-in-class IP/MPLS stability, security and service richness.”
Rademan worked closely with all ITN technical engineers with regards to the Juniper Switching components, including the Juniper Distribution Protocols and the Juniper Hardware in General.
Schalk Erasmus, technical director for Namibia, says: “It is not about product brand as such, but how we can offer Real Service by Real People as an incentive to catapult ourselves ahead of our competitors, enabling us to set the benchmark for others to follow. Migrating to Juniper with strong ties to our Suppliers and 3rd party consultants is such an example.”
XON, established in 1996 in South Africa designs, builds, operates and manages information and communication technology (ICT) solutions created specifically for customers. It is a BEE-empowered business that embraces social responsibility and upliftment. Its reach extends across Southern Africa and it maintains sales offices in Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. It operates networking and security, financial and CRM business solutions, infrastructure, maintenance services and consulting services in the parent company and through wholly-owned subsidiaries. Juniper delivers purpose-built, high-performance IP platforms, which feature prominently in Gartner’s Magic Quadrants. XON partners with some of the world’s most prominent software and consulting businesses.
ITN is a wholly-owned Namibian company. Within five years of business, ITN has built the largest privately owned backbone infrastructure, with MPLS technologies.
