Omeya Golf Estate is on the move with more than 300 serviced erven, of which the first batch was transferred last week. The centre piece of this development is the golf course; with the first nine holes completed on the championship golf course designed by Peter Matkovich.
Francois Hanekom, Omeya’s golf director, is excited about the prospects this golf course will bring towards the development of the sport in Namibia. The Golf Academy is not only an asset for the estate but also for golf in general.
Omeya said in a statement the golf course will be open for play in March within a secure estate. The golf academy was already opened in November last year.
Omeya intends to complete the second nine holes of the golf course as well as the Omeya primary school this year, with the clubhouse being completed next year. The Omeya village will have facilities such as the clubhouse, restaurant, conference rooms for 300 guests, an indoor sport centre with gymnasium, a hotel with spa, a chapel and a convenience shopping centre. The sporting facilities at Omeya will include golf, tennis, swimming, indoor sport codes including squash and a gymnasium. Residents will be able to practice cycling, mountain biking, mountaineering, nature walks and hikes, horse riding, jogging and various other grass sports.
