Aluta Fishing, a joint venture company, this week became the first new fishing right holder to pay the quota fees to the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources in Windhoek. On behalf of the five board of directors, Ileni Shilongo, chairman of Aluta Fishing, handed over two cheques of N$320 625 and N$252 037. Aluta Fishing was granted fishing rights for exploitation of marine resources as per the marine resources act and regulations of 2000. Receiving the cheque, Bernard Esau, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resource, appealed to other fishing right holders to pay their levies and quota fees before they declare dividends.
