Life saving technology at state hospitals

The Ministry of Health together with Tecmed Namibia/Africa are currently completing a number of projects to bring state-of-the-art medicine to various hospitals across the country. The scope of these projects includes the supply, installation and training on the world’s leading CT scanner units from Toshiba Medical Systems Japan.
As part of this project, the ministry has just completed the installation and commissioning of the larger Aquilion 16 slice CT scanner at the Katutura State Hospital in Windhoek. The unit is coupled to a Vital diagnostic workstation which allows for 3D imaging and digital subtraction angiography. This technology has been absent in the health sector up until now. Along with the installation of the CT system, the Ministry of Health has also renovated the entire radiology department.
The final phase of the project will involve the installation and commissioning of the Toshiba Aquillion 128 slice CT system with related workstations and imaging interfaces into the Windhoek Central Hospital. This phase is scheduled for completion before the end of March.
The Rundu and Oshakati State Hospitals also received Toshiba Activion 16 CT units with related diagnostic workstations and laser film printers.
