German
nationals continue to be the most tourists coming to Namibia with almost 50000
arrivals per annum. The gap between German visitors and visitors from other
European countries is so huge with an 80% difference if compared to those
coming from the United Kingdom.
The statistics are from the annual report by the Namibia
Tourism Board for the year ended 31 March 2005, which is the only available
report.
Only about 10000 visitors arrive from the UK each year.
France has 7000 visitors and Italy 6000 visitors coming out third and fourth,
respectively.Other European countries which regard Namibia as a tourism
destinations are Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Austria, and
Scandinavian countries from where Namibia receives slightly more than 2000
every year.
The figures do not include the arrivals from Asian countries
such as Japan, which has just began to consider Namibia a tourist destination.
