| Arts college announces 2007 music festival |

Page 2 of 2 Miriam George started with voice training in January 2007 at the College for the Arts, with Hermien Coetzee. She previously sang in the Namibia National Youth Choir (1996 – 2000) directed by Ernst van Biljon, South African National Youth Choir (1997), World Youth Choir (2000) and the Stellenbosch University Choir (2004). She is currently a member of the Marantha Singers, directed by Evy George. Miriam’s music career began at the age of 8, when she started piano lessons with Valerie van Biljon until she completed her grade 8 UNISA piano examination in 1999. She has performed at previous concerto festivals as a piano soloist and has also performed with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. Other instruments in which she has received training include the recorder and flute. She is making her debut as a vocal soloist in this performance. Lilani Kisting is a 17 year-old Grade 12 student at Hochland High School. She started singing at the age of 7. She has previously participated in several productions of the College of the Arts and performed in last year’s Music Festival. |
