Bank Windhoek has handed over the second payment of N$106 000 committed to the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) through a partnership agreement signed by the two organizations early last year.

The bank pledged an amount of N$320 000 over a period of three years to the NNOC under the partnership agreement.
Known as the Commonwealth 2012 Preparation Programme, the partnership is aimed at supporting athletes from various sport disciplines to fully equip them for future Commonwealth and Olympic games.
The bank handed over the first installment of the sponsorship amount at a media conference in July 2007. A spokesperson says Bank Windhoek will also provide a variety of sports items to the Namibian team when participating in sport events such as the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China; the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India and the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.
The bank says the sponsorship will help support and collaborate with the NNOC, its partners and stakeholders to bring gold, silver and bronze medals for Namibia in the upcoming international events.
“Bank Windhoek is proud of our partnership with the NNOC and support their endeavors to add value towards the development of sport in Namibia,” said Marlize Horn, Senior Manager: Marketing and Corporate Communication of Bank Windhoek.
Athletics, table tennis, lawn bowls, gymnastics, hockey and shooting are the disciplines that have been initially identified. Through this sponsorship, the NNOC also aims to identify talented athletes and to help them undergo professional training programmes.
