A bogus phishing e-mail is currently been send to some of
our customers stating that iWAY will close the recipient’s account if he/she
does not respond to that specific e-mail revealing e-mail address, password and
date of birth of the iWAY customer.
These e-mails are NOT originating from iWAY and should be
immediately DELETED from your system.
In computing, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process
of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and
credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic
communication.
Please note. iWAY will never ask for the users to confirm or
reveal their password via an e-mail like this. iWAY does not need to know your
password at all. The user’s password is not needed by iWAY for customer account
verification. The password is only there for the customer to be identified by
our Servers. Thus no person at iWAY must or should have a reason to know our
customer’s password.
iWAY have also taken immediate steps to stop the spreading
of this specific e-mail via our Servers.
