The
eyes of Sven Thieme, the executive chairman of Ohlthaver & List (O&L)
Group of Companies, does a very good job concealing the twinkle of achievement,
only letting out the signs of tiredness show.
Together with Thieme's executive team, we are seated in one
of the lounges at OR Tambo Airport sipping cold Heineken (apparently Windhoek
Lager was out of stock), waiting for the connecting flight to Windhoek, en
route from Durban, where the O&L group signed a deal that would change
Namibia's hospitality landscape and business environment.
Thieme's latest accomplishment, though, rests on an
ambitious and aggressive business plan that had him walking on both hot coals
and egg shells. The business plan was something he brought in when Thieme took
over the induna's chair from the late Karl List.
