Dear Sir
Your article in the Economist of 20-26 June titled Massive Coal Plant has reference. It is all well stated, but can the originator of the information to the Economist please tell the nation: 1. When do they envisage this plant to commence producing electricity? 2. Where, and this is very important, will they source the coal from (which country), is the coal mine for this coal operational/in production already, what is the output of this coal mine? 3. Why do they opt for such an environmental unfriendly investment in the face of global warming and the dictates of the Kyoto Protocol to which Namibia is a signatory? 4. Who will make the money available to fund the investment, who today is still prepared to invest such amounts of money in such environmental unfriendly power plants?
