Namibian Ambassador to the US, Patrick Nandago, this week brought home a seven-man US trade delegation for the USA/Namibia Trade Forum, which was held at the NamPower Convention Centre. Speaking at the forum, Nandago assured the business community that the Namibian embassy in the US was working very hard in its attempt to lobby and lure potential investors to Namibia. It is against this background that the embassy decided to organise a trade forum translating into business trips and employment creation, he said.

The ambassador mentioned that established American corporates would also be coming to Namibia as from 24 to 31 July with the sole aim of investing in the country.
Nandago said negotiations between Namibia and the US Agricultural Department, which started in 2006, have made significant progress, and if approved, this would afford Namibia the opportunity to export beef products to the US.
The embassy has also manage to kick start an outreach programme, which has resulted in 30 laptops being donated to the Ministry of Education together with the medical equipment worth US$350 000 that was handed over to the Ministry of Health in February.
Minister of Trade and Industry Hage Geingob welcomed the delegation and guaranteed them the vast investment opportunities Namibia offers. He cited the challenges the ministry was facing, including the lengthy periods of company registrations, but promised that its was working at speeding up the process.
The ministry was also working towards creating a smoother process between the different ministries involved in registering a company. Geingob said he would also tackle the delays in processing Visas.
Geingob assured the forum of the peaceful and conducive Namibia business climate, saying the country was investor friendly with many opportunities.
The delegation aims at investing in different sectors of the Namibian economy including tourism, education, energy and mining.
