City Police doing splendid job PDF Print
Written by Staff Reporters
Dear Sir,
May I use your space to pass words of credit for a worthwhile service?
When the word “service” is used, the first approach is to search for the nearest exit, because, on almost a daily basis, this word may be used but rarely applied. But when there is an example of true service, I feel this should be lauded loud and clear.

The Windhoek City Police force represents a relatively new institution. Yet one can see their presence readily and frequently.
When a motorist, for example, has a problem, the nearest City Police member proves willing and able to do his level best to get that individual and his vehicle mobile. Service, most assuredly!
An actual instance was when my car stopped. No petrol was coming through. The City Police officer stopped. Could he help? I explained the problem. He tackled it as best he could. Within some 15 minutes he had me mobile. A later investigation proved that a valve was faulty.
When a crime has been committed, a call to the operations room will be responded within very few minutes. Again, service most assuredly!
Yesterday morning, I awoke to find kitchen curtains entangled in the burglar bars. Checking, I found the portable radio had become very portable: Gone. Outside I found the remains of a half a loaf of bread dumped, still in its plastic wrapper: so it was not hunger: just straight theft. The call was made: Officers will be on their way: 15 minutes from call to arrival!
In both instances, the pleasant, well-meaning approach I found exemplary!
Having had personal experience of both these instances, I feel the best to do is emphasize their level of professionalism.
The individuals are usually young, but their dedication, initiative and well-mannered approach serves as a shining example to the other talkers.
Well done, Windhoek City Police! You are exemplary, indeed

The Blue Bullet,
Windhoek.
