The Agra/Bank Windhoek Ring and Multi-purpose Facility were officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Nahas Angula last week. The N$2.3 million facility will be used by the Windhoek Show Society, stud breeders’ associations, farmers’ associations as well as for a host of related activities of the farming community, while Bank Windhoek will use this facility as a training venue for its internal training courses.

The new facility forms part of the existing Agra/Bank Windhoek Auction Ring constructed in 2003.
“We see the construction of this multi-purpose facility as another step towards achieving our vision of becoming the destination of choice for farmers and livestock producers.  The construction of this multi-purpose facility forms part of Agra’s drive to capitalise on existing sites by offering our members, the wider agricultural community, and our stakeholders more value in the creation of this facility.  Our dream and the mission we strive to achieve is to grow our business with a dynamic team, providing a great service experience,” said Peter Kazmaier, Agra’s Chief Executive Officer.
Agra describes itself as largest and most important supporter of the Windhoek Show Society’s agricultural section. Since its construction, the Auction Ring has been utilized for all major auctions hosted by Agra in Windhoek.
Turnover at the Auction Ring has amounts to over N$151 million during the five-year period and the Windhoek Show Society has benefited through commissions amounting to over N$1.3 million during the period.
“The Agra/Bank Windhoek Ring and Multi-purpose Facility is a demonstration of our commitment towards our clients and their prosperity. We are proud of our association with Agra and look forward to many more relationship-building initiatives”, said Mr James Hill, Managing Director of Bank Windhoek Limited.
About 47% of the active population depends on agriculture, while a total of up to 70% is either directly or indirectly reliant on agriculture, said Prime Minister Angula in his speech.”
