 Jerome Mouton
Liberty Africa last week announced the appointment of Jerome Mouton as regional managing director of its southern region, comprising the Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland markets. Mouton, previously head of marketing and strategic business development at the Namibian Ports Authority, will be based in Windhoek with the task of growing the Liberty Africa product offering across all four national jurisdictions while establishing a southern African business hub based in Namibia.

He holds a Masters in Business Administration and an MA in Development Economics, as well as a BA from the University of Namibia.
Strategic direction for southern African operations previously came from Liberty Africa’s Johannesburg head office. The new southern African hub will complement the company’s East and West African hubs.
Windhoek, rather than Johannesburg, is to become the southern African hub for Liberty Africa and the platform for sustained business growth across the region.
Liberty Africa is the Liberty Group vehicle for developing Africa-wide business and a ‘one-stop financial service shop’ covering asset management, savings and investment products, life and risk insurance.
Last year, the Johannesburg-based Liberty Group took total control of the STANLIB asset management and unit trust business that has an established presence in Windhoek, Gaborone, Maseru and Mbabane. In some jurisdictions, the STANLIB identity is preferred; sometimes the Stanbic branding is used.
The corporate footprint extends from Johannesburg to Nairobi and Kampala, while a West Africa presence is currently under development. Mouton revealed that East and West African hubs would complement the southern African hub.
He added: “Liberty Africa will leverage off existing STANLIB and Stanbic infrastructure in various jurisdictions to build critical mass and take a broader product offering to market. We see boundless potential across southern Africa.”
