The Namibia-Sweden Working Group this week paid special attention to Namibia’s priorities in the 3rd National Development Plan.

In a joint communiqué issued after a meeting in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, the group said special attention should be given to actor driven cooperation, which it said would be the main part of the Swedish cooperation strategy for 2009 to 2013.
The meeting was co-chaired by Joakim Stymne, State Secretary for Development Cooperation in Sweden, and Peter Katjavivi, Director-General of the National Planning Commission.
“The meeting discussed and followed up a number of areas for cooperation, which has been pursued since the last meeting in Windhoek last year,” the communiqué said.
The meeting also discussed how to proceed when the Swedish Embassy in Windhoek is closed. A Swedish Trade Council office and Swedish Honorary Consulate in Namibia will be established. The Swedish Embassy in Pretoria will be handling affairs previously done in Namibia.
