Following the death in 2006 of SRT founder, Blythe Loutit, Urikhob has blossomed into the conservation body’s leader, spokesperson, spiritual guide and public personality. Just this past week, he received a N$10 000 contribution from M-Web, which had been collected through the MWEB Golf Day held over the weekend.
“The $10 000.00 from MWEB Namibia will, to a great extent, support Save the Rhino Trust’s ongoing projects ranging from research to community development,” said Urikhob.
Marc Gregan, General Manager of MWEB, commented: “National treasures are an important asset to Namibia. We need to protect them and ensure our grandkids kids, have access to it. This is part of Namibia’s culture.”
A total of 108 players participated in the golf competition and a total of N$15 000 was distributed as prize money.
The top three players were R. Van Taak in third place, J Oosthuizen Jnr. (a 14-year-old golfer) in second place and G. Cilliers in first place. Leading Lodges sponsored the first prize to the tune of N$7000.
