Information Communication Technology (ICT) is regarded as the greatest catalyst in the development of Africa as it reduces the digital divide in the emerging continent.

As Nigeria becomes a dominant player in the African ICT market, it has embraced NEPAD’s ICT infrastructure framework, which aims to contribute to long-term economic and social development.
The NEPAD e-Africa Commission was mandated to develop a broad NEPAD ICT strategy and comprehensive action plan with the objective of accelerating the development of African intra-country and global connectivity while promoting conditions for Africa to be an equal and active participant in the global information society.
Dimension Data has wholeheartedly adopted this mandate, and embraces technology in Africa by delivering world-class ICT solutions throughout the continent.
In 2007 Dimension Data, Africa’s Best ICT Company in Africa according to the African ICT Achievers Awards and hosted the inaugural ITEX symposium in Windhoek, Namibia. The symposium provided a view of future technologies and value that can be derived for business and solutions that support the growth and development in Africa through ICT.
The one-day ITEX symposium offers insight into the innovative solutions required to fulfil the ICT framework proposed by the United Nations’ Millennium Goals and NEPAD. It will be taking place on 13 June.
The ITEX symposium is being held at Windhoek Country Club, Windhoek, Namibia and will incorporate an ICT exhibition. The ITEX symposium will then be launched in Kenya in the month of July 2008.
