The Renewable Energy Industry Association of Namibia has been formed, it was announced this week.
In a statement, the association said a group of 30 individuals from all over Namibia founded the association in Windhoek two weeks ago.
The objectives of the group are promoting renewable
energy, adhering to quality standards, lobbying for renewable energy
issues, establishing professional relationships with national and
international bodies with similar objectives
“The increasing use of renewable energy and the growing number of its technology providers in our country initiated a request of the REEE Institute at the Polytechnic of Namibia to the local players for the formation of an industry representation that can delegate a member to the Accreditation and Approval Panel (AAP). The panel is an independent body with the sole aim of ensuring the growth of the renewable energy industry in Namibia; within a framework that protects consumers and the environment by promoting the quality of renewable energy products and services,” the statement said. Björn Wilschke chairs the interim board of the association, while Heinrich Steuber is the secretary and Mark Riehmer is the association’s treasurer. Membership with the association is restricted to registered Namibian companies. |
