Legendary Subaru has landed in Windhoek PDF Print

When Subaru started putting out feelers three years ago to identify a potential local agent, Willem Hugo came to mind as the ideal candidate to steer the launch of a new marquee. Hugo has a track record in the vehicle industry spanning three decades. He first came to attention of local car buyers when he became the dealer principle at Cohen Cars, then the BMW agents. After this, he was instrumental in bringing Hyundai to Namibia where he also served as dealer principle until Hyundai developed its own headaches.

The Subaru is the real deal; with a pedigree that ranks it the number one performer on the world rally championship scene.

It was at this point that Willem Hugo decided he has had enough and started his own dealership, Select Cars that quickly developed a solid reputation for honest deals and reliable cars. This success made Hugo the prime Subaru target.
But he was very reluctant at first. In a talk with the Economist he said out straight "No, no, no! Not interested in new cars." But Subaru persisted sending several delegations to change the man's head. Eventually, a contract he could not refuse was put down on the desk in front of him. Hugo signed and today we have Subaru in Windhoek.
The versatile choice of the Subaru range, which are all now available at the new Subaru dealership in Windhoek, has put an exciting edge to the local motoring industry with a motor car that is above average in both looks, luxury, performance and safety.
The Subaru is the real deal, with a pedigree that ranks it the number one performer on the world rally championship scene, but what makes it even more interesting is that: get behind the wheel of the Subaru in your ‘hood’ and the vehicle will perform with the same guts, oomph and passion you would expect from a celebrity. Not to mention it’s a real looker.
Dealer Principal and owner of Subaru Windhoek, Willem Hugo, who needs little introduction to the local motoring world, threw an inauguration bash at the dealership the night before the drive out, with all the who’s who in the motoring-related business rubbing shoulders with the range of new models.
Subaru Windhoek marks the first Subaru dealership in the country offering the motoring public a choice of the Subaru Tribecas, Subaru Forester, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback and the ‘drop dead gorgeous’ Subaru Impreza.
The Managing Director of Subaru SA, Teresita van Gaalen, said at the opening ceremony that she was confident that Willem and his enthusiastic team were well on their way to making a great success of introducing the brand into the Namibian market.
Already there has been a vote of confidence from Avis Car Rental that has put its money on 10 Foresters.
Subaru Windhoek is located in Hosea Kutako Drive at the site of the well-known former Croessers Garage.
