Judge Gibson was first appointed judge of the High Court on 18 December 1995. For the next 12 years she served in this capacity.
A statement from the Registrar of the High Court, Mr E.C. Kastoor commended Judge Gibson for her work.
"The Chief Justice expresses his profound appreciation for Justice Gibson's important contribution to the administration of justice in the country and wishes her a happy well-earned retirement," Kastoor said.
