Despite wet and slippery road surface
conditions, the Subaru Ride and Drive held in Windhoek recently on
track and dirt was a major success. The event also coincided with the
official launch of the new Subaru dealership that has just kicked
open the door in Namibia. Testing the freshly introduced fleet of
five cutting-edge Subaru models, it was down to business with guests
having the opportunity to get to grips with each of the models, and
“speed freaks” were able to put their vehicle through the paces
on the Tony Rust Race Track.

The versatile choice of the Subaru
range, which are all now available at the new Subaru dealership in
Windhoek, has put an exciting edge to the local motoring industry
with a motor car that is above average in both looks, luxury,
performance and safety.
The Subaru is the real deal, with a
pedigree that ranks it the number one performer on the world rally
championship scene, but what makes it even more interesting is that:
get behind the wheel of the Subaru in your ‘hood’ and the vehicle
will perform with the same guts, oomph and passion you would expect
from a celebrity. Not to mention it’s a real looker.
Dealer Principal and owner of Subaru
Windhoek, Willem Hugo, who needs little introduction to the local
motoring world, threw an inauguration bash at the dealership the
night before the drive out, with all the who’s who in the
motoring-related business rubbing shoulders with the range of new
models.
Subaru Windhoek marks the first Subaru
dealership in the country offering the motoring public a choice of
the Subaru Tribecas, Subaru Forester, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback
and the ‘drop dead gorgeous’ Subaru Impreza.
The managing director of Subaru SA,
Teresita van Gaalen, said at the opening ceremony that she was
confident that Willem and his enthusiastic team were well on their
way to making a great success of introducing the brand into the
Namibian market.
Already there has been a vote of
confidence from Avis Car Rental that has put its money on 10
Foresters. The demand has come from tourists accustomed to the
drivability and safety of the symmetrical all-wheel drive vehicles,
and expressed their confident in the vehicles ability to handle the
rough African gravel road conditions.
“Its is a brave time in the global
and local economies to be establishing a venture such as this but I
am sure that you will continue the marque’s reputation of
successfully bucking the trend and coming up trumps,” said van
Gaalen. “All in all, this is an exciting year for the brand.”
