Of the 79 653 Swakara pelts on offer, 100% were sold by Agra in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 10 April 2008. An average price of 256.99 Danish Krone (DKK) was attained, representing a decrease of 3.94% compared with the DKK 270.13 achieved in September 2007.

Despite the decrease in Krone, there was an increase of 9% in US$ terms. The US$ price was US$55.00 as opposed to the US$49.60 at the previous auction. Thus the decrease in Danish Krone can largely be attributed to the poor performance of the US$ against the Krone.
The average price in Namibian dollar of N$422.08 reflects an increase of 19.34% compared with the N$353.69 of the previous auction.
The offer consisted of 69 208 black, 461 grey, 5 455 white, 377 brown and 4 152 miscellaneous pelts.
The highest price of N$1 396.04 was paid for a lot of 52 D Light Lyre Select Super pelts, which were bought by Bourtsos Konstantinos from Siatista, Greece. This is the highest price ever achieved in Namibian dollars. The previous record price of N$1 250 was achieved in April 2006. The highest price in September 2007 was N$667.74.
35 buyers purchased the pelts, while others actively made bids but were not successful. The major buyers were agents from England, with Japan second and Italy third. A buyer from Japan was again the largest single buyer. Buyers from Germany, the USA, South Korea, Hong Kong, Greece, Denmark and Israel also participated in the auction.
The inspection prior to the auction was lively as usual, which shows that Swakara is still in demand. The largest decrease was with the shallow types, with an increase especially with the developed types. Buyers ascribed this to the double-colour technique, which is in demand again, and the developed pelts are ideal for that technique.
