Organized crime on wheels? |

Dear Sir,
During the past few days, there have
been at least three incidents involving hold-ups in our streets
and/or attempts at forced house-entry. On two of these incidents, the escaping
criminals fled to a vehicle waiting some 50-odd metres away on the
street corner. The vehicle had a yellow taxi sign.
These occasions were reported, but
being a report after the event, it is difficult for any follow up to
be effective.
The area where these incidents occurred
is in Suiderhof, and quite close to the few shops there. The timing
of these attacks on people/property was daytime, more the middle of
the day than the earlier or later times when there are more people
mobile. These were targeting individual or the presumed unattended
homes.
These incidents surely indicate a
degree of organization involving a dedicated criminal element,
involving an organized transport facility.
The writer feels people should be
warned and, likely, this type of crime can spread into other quiet
daytime suburbs.
