Angelina Sinvula, a Namsov Community Trustee who handed over the donation to the Deputy PM Dr Libertine Amathila, said, “Namsov is thankful that we are in a position to assist the needy people with basic needs.”
“We trust that the donation will help the Government and more specifically the people in dire need to overcome the many problems that this crisis brought along,” she added.
Namsov Fishing Enterprises, a Bidvest Namibia company, is the single biggest quota holder engaged in Horse-mackerel fishing. The Namsov Community Trust is a shareholder in Namsov Fishing and, through dividends paid to shareholders, it has been assisting and supporting various communities all over Namibia to empower themselves and as in this case, to assist communities and citizens in emergencies.
The 14-year-old Trust has so far expended through donations and sponsorships in excess of N$21 million to various projects in the country.
