The NamWater Board of Directors and
Management has donated funds to the flood victims in the Northern
Regions through the Namibia Red Cross Society. The management said
the donation has been necessitated by the urgent need for foodstuffs,
blankets and many other items in demand. Welhencia
Uiras (right), the Chairlady of the NamWater Board of Directors, said
the corporation donated N$250,000 to the Red Cross for the benefit of
flood victims. The cheque was received by Andimba Toivo ya Toivo
(left) as the Chairman of the Red Cross, who in return awarded
NamWater with a certificate of appreciation. Uiras forewarned people
in the affected regions that the floods damaged the corporation’s
water supply infrastructure, and when the water recedes it might lead
to water shortages.
