Microsoft this week launched Windows Server 2008, Visual
Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 new solutions the company said would mark a
turning point in the way that large companies and governments use and manage
their widespread networks. “Under the theme of “Heroes
Happen Here” we are bringing these landmark solutions to Namibia to help people
secure their information, manage their network more efficiently and ensure
their users deliver better results,” said Louis Otieno, general manager for
Microsoft in East and Southern Africa.

Otieno said the solutions could be used to make a business
run more smoothly and help the government to deliver better services to
citizens.
He said Microsoft's creation and launch of the three
products is based on feedback from IT professionals who say they spend too much
time and money managing existing systems and not enough investing in new
capabilities that give them a strategic business advantage.
“For a large company or government department in Namibia to
find extra resources is not easy. That leaves even less time and money to focus
on interesting ways to have meaningful impact on business,” said George
Ferreira, Microsoft business development manager responsible for Namibia.
Windows Server 2008 is the operating system that drives the
servers that sit at the heart of a large scale computer network. Visual Studio
allows programmers and developers to work together using visual and graphical
tools to develop software programs and business processes.
The SQL Sever 2008 is the
latest version Microsoft database server software aimed at driving greater
reliability and availability of critical business information.
