Anglo American plc said this week in its annual results for the year ending 31 December 2007 that it recorded an operating profit of US$10.1 billion. Operating profits from core operations rose 12% to $8.9 billion.

Anglo American has secondary listing on the Namibian Stock Exchange. The company owns the Skorpion Zinc mine and has a 9.9% shareholding in Exxaro, which owns the Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation.
Anglo American also owns 45% of De Beers Group, which owns 50% of the country's top diamond producer, Namdeb.
The company achieved the highest ever total group underlying earnings of $5.8 billion, up by 5%
“We achieved our highest ever operating profit of US$10.1 billion and underlying earnings of US$5.8 billion, with continued strong cash generation,” said Cynthia Carroll, Chief Executive Officer.
