After three years of captaining Namibia Post Limited through turbulent times, Sakaria Nghikembua the chief executive officer is passing the baton to the next person. Nghikembua leaves Nampost for an unidentified company in the financial services sector. And he would not give even a hint of the company.

“I really do not want to make announcement on behalf of another company. In any case it is too early. I am still here,” Nghikembua said, laughing, when pressed for information.
Nghikembua joined Nampost from Telecom where he had held various managerial posts.
In announcing Nghikembua resignation, the chairman of the board of Nampost, Sebby Kankondi, produced a stunning curriculum vitae on his achievements at the postal company.
“Nampost witnessed momentous change during Nghikembua’s tenure,” said Kankondi.
Net profits reached all-time highs, averaging N$17 million, resulting in successive dividend payments of N$9 million over each of the last three years.
Deposit books under the Nampost Savings Bank increased from N$420 million in 2004 to its current levels of over N$1.4 billion. Total assets increased from N$486 million at 30 September 2004 to N$1.5 billion at 30 September 2007.
The company’s cash position strengthened from N$7 million as at 30 September 2004 to N$83 million at 30 September 2007.
Operations were also modernised with the introduction of new technologies such as the Smart Card System which replaced an outdated Savings Books. The introduction of third party transaction and billing payment systems in partnership with various entities were other milestones achieved.
Nampost’s courier services were also upgraded paving way for a tracking and tracing system to be introduced.
Nghikembua’s successes are not limited to balance sheets. Human relations at the parastatal also improved.
“The board of Namibia Post Limited wishes to record that Nghikembua is a brilliant business leader who had taken the company to new heights. While he will be sincerely missed, he leaves with a historic record and will be leaving a permanent positive mark on the company and its employees. We thank him profoundly for his dedication, vision and thoroughness in strategy execution; and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” saluted Kankondi.
