Meatco has achieved another milestone in its drive for quality and excellence. It has been rated the highest in various categories, in a country survey that was conducted by Professional Management Review during August, September and October 2007. According to the results of the survey, Meatco scooped four Golden Arrow Awards in the Business Sectors Agriculture –Abattoirs and Agriculture- Livestock, and in the Business Sectors Meat Processing and Food Manufacturing/Processors in Namibia.

The CEO of Meatco, Kobus du Plessis says: “These awards are internationally recognized and for Meatco it is an achievement to be proud of. Meatco alone could not have won these awards has it not been for the input from all its stakeholders. Credit should be given to all Meatco employees, producers and customers for their dedication and support that made it possible for Meatco to win the awards.”
The ratings are based on the perceptions of the respondents who consist mainly out of corporate individuals and senior government officials in the country.
In the Business Sectors: Agriculture –Abattoirs, Meatco scored the highest rating of 3.85 out of a possible 5.00 in this sector.
In the Business Sector: Agriculture - Livestock, Meatco also receive the highest scores, with an overall rating of 3.76 out of a possible 5.00 points.
In the Business Sector: Food Manufacturing/Processors in Namibia, Meatco was also scored a rating of 4.06 out of a possible 5.00, and will receive the Golden Arrow Award.
In the Business Sector: Meat Processing Companies in Namibia, Meatco was rated the highest on an overall rating of 3.97 out of a possible 5.00, and will receive the Golden Arrow Award in this sector.
A total of 7807 ratings and nominations were sourced overall in the country.
Companies and institutions were rated against the following criteria:
- Companies/institutions that have done most to enhance economic growth and development of the country
- Management
- Corporate governance
According to Professional Management Review.africa, the purpose of the awards is to celebrate excellence and to acknowledge and set a bench mark for others to aspire to.
