Local teens watch first ¼ final match in Ghana PDF Print

It was with great pleasure that Standard Bank could put a big smile on the faces of two youngsters and their parents just before they left to become part of the vibrant Ghana soccer scene. These youngsters were part of numerous young people from all over Africa where Standard Bank is represented, who won the chance to join the African cup in Accra.

“Football is probably the world’s biggest sport and especially so in Africa. Football unites, it draws people from different cultures and backgrounds together; playing football keeps you fit, healthy and happy,” said Jacques Fryer, Marketing Manager at the farewell of the player escorts of the Ghana African cup of Nations on 1 February.
Standard Bank is proud to be the main sponsor of the 2008 Ghana games.
A smiling Orpa Ouses and Alcino Ndjavera with their respective parents JJ (Orpa Ouses’ father) and Alcina (Alcino’s mother) were anxiously awaiting the time when the plane would touch down in Accra, Ghana.
Both Orpa’s and Alcino’s tickets were drawn at the stadium last year during Standard Bank’s fun day hosted by soccer legend Abedi Pele. They have been waiting for this moment for the past two and a half months and it was now time to fly.

While the highlight was undoubtedly the accompaniment of soccer players onto the field, the escorts were also spoilt with interaction and photo opportunities with Abedi, taken on a city tour of Accra, enjoy some shopping opportunities and spoilt with lunches at various interesting restaurants.
“This will most definitely be a trip of a life time for Orpa and Alcino and we at Standard Bank are extremely proud to have been able to prove our commitment to our clients, our youth and to soccer on the African continent. I wish our youngsters well and hope that you will visit me for feedback when you get back from Accra,” Fryer said before the youngsters left for Ghana.
