The Walvis Bay municipal council had this week accepted the resignation of CEO, Augustinus Katiti, who has resigned effective 2 April after 12 years of service.

Katiti joined the municipality as Town Treasurer in April 1995 and served in this capacity until January 1999. After holding the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer for a brief period, he stepped into the position of CEO on 1 August 2000.
In a farewell note to municipal staff, Katiti said he was grateful to all the mayors and councillors "who afforded me an employment opportunity at the Council of the Municipality of Walvis Bay, as I always considered my job a privilege rather than a right".
He also expressed his appreciation to colleagues for their support over the past 12 years and acknowledged the fundamental role played by the residents of Walvis Bay in the "attainment of good governance and efficient local authority administration".
Katiti has indicated that he would be pursuing private interests, which include research to complete his doctoral studies.
