Lars Christian Iuel, Cell One’s Chief
Executive Officer, is leaving the country to take up the opportunity to pursue
new challenges at its partner company Telenor in South East Asia. Cell One had this week appointed a new CEO, following
the reassignment of Iuel.
He is Frode Haugen and his appointment is with
effect from 1 March. The cellular services provider said Haugen has 27 years
industry experience and has international exposure both in Europe, Africa and
South East Asia working as a top executive.
Iuel joined Cell One on 1 October 2006 as
Chief Marketing Officer and was appointed CEO on 27 March 2007.
During Iuel’s time of leadership at Cell
One, the company launched both Prepaid and Postpaid services in the market.
“I would like to thank Cell One employees, the
Namibian people, the Government of Namibia, the NCC, the shareholders and the
Board of Directors for making my time at Cell One rewarding and worthwhile,”
Iuel said.
