The World Bank wants Namibia to derive more benefits from the bank's vast resources. The Bretton Wood institution held a two-day immersion workshop recently in the country on its operations, which was aimed at providing the government an opportunity to learn more about the work of the bank.

The workshop came up with a business plan, which will be used to identify development activities to be implemented for the next two years.

Country Director Ritva Reinikka said openness was one of the bank's core beliefs with the bank holding information sharing workshops across the world.
Reinikka said Namibia needs to use the bank's resources because even countries such as China Brazil and Mauritius were benefiting.
Namibia is regarded as a middle-income country not qualifying for soft loans from the bank but the country benefits from the bank's technical assistance such as in the education sector.
The bank and the government earlier this month signed a financial support agreement of US$15 million for the Education and Training Sector Improvement Programme (ETSIP).
The World Bank has been supporting the country's education sector since 2003.
