JSE quoted property loan stock company Vukile this week
listed in the real estate sector of the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX) during a
ceremony held in Windhoek.
Gerhard van Zyl, CEO of Vukile
Property Fund Limited, said the company was looking at acquiring new properties
at Oshakati and Oshikango, in northern Namibia close to the Angolan border.
Vukile already owns eight properties in Namibia valued at N$366.1
million, which makes up about 9.2% of the total Vukile portfolio.“There is no doubt that the fundamentals for the property
development industry in Namibia are strong and are likely to remain strong for
a few years to come,” said van Zyl.Vukile chairman Anton Botha said the dual listing was a
demonstration of Vukile’s confidence in the prospects for the Namibian economy
in general and its commercial property sector in particular. The company recently acquired the landmark BPI House in the
Windhoek CBD for N$113 million, increasing the value of its Namibian portfolio and
its physical size to some 60000 square metres of gross rentable area over eight
buildings.
