The Bank of Namibia announced this week that the bond
issuance for the current fiscal year has been placed on hold until March next
year.
The central bank said the ministry of finance has not
approved the government borrowing requirements for the 2007/8 financial year,
which it says indicate an improved fiscal position for the entire fiscal year.
This has led to an amendment in the government borrowing calendar.“The new changes on the calendar were necessitated with the
view that the government budget surplus envisaged for the 2007/8 financial year
has reduced the government borrowing requirement,” the central bank said.
