available in 3- D dimensions, let's do this overview also in 3-D:

What happened
The past week has seen very wet weather at the Cape of
Good Hope. As was expected, a major vortex approached and brought widespread
rains to as far north as Rosh Pinah. As this system arrived and got to an area
just west of the continent, it slowed down. Just behind it, in the very cold
and unstable air where the wind flow is blustery, minor vortices form. Some are
quickly absorbed and disappear.
