Singer, songwriter and actor Kurt Darren is set to grace Namibian soil once more as he performs at the Windhoek show grounds this weekend. Darren is best known for his Afrikaans hits ‘Kaptein and Meisie Meisie’ which sold over 60,000 copies when it was realised in 2002.

Born Kurt Van Heerden, on 19 February 1970 in Pretoria,  Darren has been part of the South African music industry for years. He released his first album titled ‘For your precious love’ in 1995 but the year 2002 was the year in which he got his musical breakthrough when ‘Meisie Meisie was released.
His performances include performing with the group Smokie on a cruise liner where they sang their famous song ‘Living next door to Alice’. Darren has won several awards for his music including the award for Best Sokkie dance album at the South African Music Awards last year.
