SA teams vs local schools

First National Bank and Windhoek High School officially launched the 5th consecutive Janine and Suzelle Davin Trust FNB WHS Sport Festival, on Thursday.
Ian Leyenaar, CEO of FNB Namibia in his address said that this sport festival is regarded as one of Namibia’s biggest and most international school sporting event. “Its approach is very simple – assemble sports teams from leading schools across Namibia and from South Africa, let them battle it out for honours in rugby, netball and hockey at WHS’s FNB Stadium and above all, allow the students time to interact off the field and have lots of fun .A sure recipe for success,” he said.
Leyenaar said that FNB Namibia is proud of their involvement in school sports in Namibia as the bank is convinced that in doing so, they are investing in the country’s future while contributing to improvement in the standard of school sports.
He said “we believe that initiatives such as this event and FNB Namibia Classic Clashes are an effective medium to achieve our beautiful country’s Vision 2030. We believe that money invested in the youth is always a good long-term investment in our future as a country.”
At the official opening and launch ceremony, all partners welcomed the South African counterparts namely, Vredendal High School , Tygerberg High School, DF Malan High School, Nylstroom High School and Randburg High School.
From the Namibian side the following schools are participating: St. Georges High School St. Pauls High School, Windhoek High School, Windhoek Gymnasium, Walvis Bay Private School, Elnatan and the Dagbreek School.
