Heels break for charity at Olympic

If you thought that sports was never fashionable, think again. The KS Heels Charity Race Stilettos Olympic which was organised by Kalahari Sands Hotel and Casino, changed the dynamics of sport when Windhoek residents ran in high heels to raise funds for charity last weekend.
Sport enthusiast and radio presenter, Tashiya Kalondo and Erich Muinjo emerged victorious at the first ever Stilettos Olympic held in Windhoek on Saturday, 26 November.
Contestants who comprised men and women had to run with stilettos for 100 metres after entering at a fee of N$250.
It was a fun fair at the Olympics.
Not only were there a few falls, the audience also witnessed a few stilettos break. One guy broke all the heels he ran with in the two rounds of the race.
No major injuries were sustained but the medical service providers were on stand by for emergencies.
Even though some stilettos were lost, the race was entertaining and N$10 000 was raised for charity.
Magreth Mate of Kalahari Sands Hotel said that, with the funds, the company will provide items and groceries to the Katutura Old Age Home and Life Change Centre while Tashiya Kalondo and Erich Muinjo won an all expenses paid trip to attend the Miss South Africa beauty pageant in Sun City. The marathon was aimed at raising funds for charity.
